Here are three techniques that can be used to fend off the dreaded “afternoon slump” that so many workers experience without the use of coffee or an energy drink: 1. Split up tasks. Completing several smaller tasks gives a greater sense of accomplishment more often which helps make you feel more alert. 2. Listen to new music. Music you haven’t heard before engages the brain’s reward centers which can help energize the body. 3. Increase afternoon socialization. Scheduling meetings and other social activities for the afternoon can help keep you active as the day drags on.
