Yesterday was a busy day. It’s pretty funny that for an “unemployed” person, I’ve been busy. I’ve been blessed to pick up quite a few gigs rather QUICKLY. (THANK YOU EVERYONE who is putting me to work. Yes, I have more capacity, keep those calls coming). During my haste to get errands run between gigs, my lovely texted me as asked me to bring a coffee home. GROAN. I was BUSY trying to get things DONE. And I’ll have to make an extra trip back around the block. OK it’s not all that bad, but for a moment, it sure felt like it was. So I wrapped up my errands and headed back to Starbucks.

It took just a few minutes and as I picked up my second drink the Barista Kirk at the Starbucks on Roosevelt handed me the drink and I said “thank you.” And then it happened.
He looked me right in the eye and said, “Miss Michelle, Thank You” …
To which I of course had to reply, “No Kirk, Thank you” and the Epic Battle of Thanks Began*.
“Miss Michelle, Thank you for thanking me”
“Kirk, Thank you for thanking me for thanking you”
“I appreciate your thanking me for thanking you for thanking me”
“Kirk, I appreciate that you appreciate the appreciation for your appreciation”. BOOM! His colleagues said that I won with that one. The truth is, we both did, and hopefully a few of the folks around us did, too.
THANK YOU KIRK! I APPRECIATE YOU! You made my day, and I was almost too busy to experience the EPIC BATTLE OF GRATITUDE.
*(Now I may not get this word-for-word, but it’s pretty darn close).
