After 1 week. MacRumors reports: ‘Pokémon Go’ Now Considered ‘The Biggest Mobile Game in U.S. History’. With more peak daily users than Candy Crush Saga (that app you pretend you don’t have on your device).
I searched YouTube for the phrase “Pokémon Go” and there were 1,020,000 results.
In Google News that result was nearly 6x as much at 5,870,000 … nearly 500 of those (in the past 24 hours). And Google has a neat little feature in News … HIDE DUPLICATES … so that’s not syndicated content for those 500, all separate stories.
And remember … at the time of this writing, it’s only been released for 1 week.
Apparently it’s so addictive that some consumers have lost their minds and are:
- playing while driving,
- venturing out after dark into danger
- poking around so much that police departments are issuing safety warnings.
Wait, what? Digital technology that is driving folks OUT of their homes and way from their sofas?
Local Businesses are getting on the action, at a nominal cost, and driving foot traffic (that can translate into business) into their brick and mortar locations.One publication is even calling it the Pokéconomy
