The pay inequality ruling women in the arts

Women working in the arts suffer just as much from gender wage inequality as their counterparts in the world of business. Although the arts are known for their nonstandard work hours, when work is gained primarily by contract, negotiation becomes the key to success, and men are still better at negotiation than women on average. There is one small silver lining, however: artistic women who become mothers do not suffer a pay cut.
